When you receive a picture that has been taken with an iphone, you normally receive them in .HEIC format. If you have Win11, your picture tool (build into Win11) should open up the picture in .heic right away. If not or you are on Win10, you will need an additional tool from Microsoft:
- Get the right tool in your Microsoft App Store (download and install it) : HEIF Image Extensions - Microsoft Store Apps
- Go to the file you want to transfer
- Do a right click on your file and click on Open with > Photos
- In the Photos-App click on the three dots in the upper right corner and click on Save As
- Choose the right folder in which you want to save your photo, choose the right file name and then choose the right file type. After that, click on Save
