Challenge: You have multiple divisions that need to be reported on multiple Form 8825's but GoSystem RS is only pulling
the aggregate total as oppose to separating each division/rental activity.
Solution: When importing the trial balance into GoSystem RS, the key identifying factor determines how properties are
created/identified is the Property Code along with the Tax Code. Normally, within a single entity return you would
identify certain accounts that belong to a rental property and use a property code number to categorize the
accounts. When importing the trial balance from AdvanceFlow, the property code would then be recognized and
the entity would be created once the data is merged into GoSystem RS.
Currently (as of 11/01/2020), there is no option within AdvanceFlow that would recognize the each division as a
seperate rental real estate/Form 8825 entity. The only way to recognize each division as a Form 8825 entity would
require the correct property code and tax code for each account. That is, all accounts within the first division could
be given property code 1 and all accounts within the second division could be given the property code 2 and so
on. The major limitation with this option is that only certain tax codes are recognized as rental real estate activity
codes (48-450 through 48-499).
If you would like to see how this presents and would consider changing the property code for each associated
division, create a copy of the engagement first, and then assign the codes as desired. This will ensure that nothing
permanent changes within the original engagement and you can import from AdvanceFlow into GoSystem RS
without worrying about incorrect data. If the results are undesired, you can always delete the Trial Balance date
within GoSystem RS to determine the best way to proceed.
